Green ICT: Economically Sound, Ecologically Sustainable
Guidelines 317These guidelines will be of benefit to organisations looking for solutions that create environmental benefits now, while incorporating goals of lowering costs, retaining and growing their customer base, increasing market share, and increasing shareholder and stakeholder value.
Given the recent results of the National Computing Centre's survey of UK attitudes to Green ICT (carried out at NCC Green Conference, July 2008), these guidelines have been prepared in order to:
- continue the process of raising awareness of the practical measures that organisations can take to reduce their ICT costs
- highlight the standards and best practice of those that can make significant inroads into reducing the IT industry's CO2 emissions
- use the 'green agenda' to rethink IS and IT strategies for economic and environmental cost benefits
- develop a concise reference point on the subject
NCC Members have free access to these Guidelines on the NCC Membership website.
