Practical advice on how to use computers to generate or store records that may be required as evidence in civil proceedings.

Objectives:

  1. To warn that records generated by, or stored on, computers are sometimes disregarded in civil proceedings with disastrous consequences for one or more of the parties.
  2. To explain the reason for disregarding such records.
  3. To consider the provisions of the Civil Evidence Act 1995 that regulate the admission of computer stored or generated records to civil proceedings.
  4. To suggest practical steps to ensure the admission of such records in accordance with this legislation.
