Practical advice on how to use computers to generate or store records that may be required as evidence in civil proceedings.
Objectives:
- To warn that records generated by, or stored on, computers are sometimes disregarded in civil proceedings with disastrous consequences for one or more of the parties.
- To explain the reason for disregarding such records.
- To consider the provisions of the Civil Evidence Act 1995 that regulate the admission of computer stored or generated records to civil proceedings.
- To suggest practical steps to ensure the admission of such records in accordance with this legislation.
