The title 'ready when you are' is the clearest statement to be made about the position of VoIP and IP Telephony when mapped against the aspirations of your organisation. Whether it is a matter of ‘sweating’ your current telephony assets and migrating step by step, or taking the plunge on a complete refresh; the important thing to recognise is that the technology is now flexible enough to cope with a broad spectrum of deployment scenarios.

Many organisations have already migrated or started the planning process to implement VoIP and IP Telephony technology. Much has been written and comments made about the inevitability of the march towards the converged organisation. Whilst there is a certain degree of inevitability from a technology perspective, now more than ever, there is a compelling case for migration.

Many deployments exist, and whilst these have not been without complications, there is a general belief that; the maturity and stability of this technology, coupled with improved supplier and service provider resource, means that the opportunity for organisations to leverage this type of infrastructure is better than ever before.
