Overview
Establishing a Programme / Project Office (PO) can help to ensure projects in an organisation run as effectively as possible. However, the PO can take a number of different forms, and ensuring that the nature of the PO meets the needs of the organisation can be tricky. This course is designed to provide guidance for those involved in establishing a PO; identifying pitfalls, ensuring clarity of scope and providing practical experience of running the PO.

Some familarity with structured project management methods and techniques is advantageous

- Identify and carry out the processes required to support the management of a project or projects

- What is a Project Office?
- What kinds of PO are there?
- Importance of defining scope and role of PO
Introduction to Case Study for Programme & Project Office
Programme & Project Lifecycles, Project Management Methods
Exercise 1:
- Select appropriate Programme Management method
- Design / agree appropriate lifecycle for Case Study project
- Set up Programme Board and Project Board
Session 2: Product and System Development Methods
Exercise 2: Document role of Programme / Project Manager(s)
Agree any tailoring required of Methods.
Session 3: Support Tools
Exercise 3:
Practice using a selection of tools for the programme / project, e.g.risk mgmt tools, healthcheck, checklists, templates, guidelines etc.

Prepare marketing plan / materials for PSO & deliver presentations.
