The NCC Standard for IT Departments

The Standard specifies a set of requirements in five key business areas using the familiar system of Lines of Enquiry (LOE) and Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE ) in essential areas: These areas are:

Management of IT
How well does the function manage its business resources and capacity?

Business direction
How strong is the planning and implementation of the IT department’s strategy for the association?

Business or service generation
Does the department work well to promote its expertise and encourage the effective use of IT for its sponsors and customers?

Delivery and operations

How well does the department carry out its business responsibilities?

Customer relationships
Does the department work well with its sponsors and customers and tenants? How do the department’s customers perceive the IT department?

Together these five stages of business provide a comprehensive benchmark of excellence.

“The ITDA provided us with an opportunity
to both gain an independent understanding
of our strengths and weaknesses and to
challenge the team to prove they could
achieve the highest standards.”

Laura Vost
Business Systems Manager, Iceland Foods Ltd.
